ABOUT IEEF

The IEEF (Initiative for Education in Economics & Finance) is a dynamic project focused on advancing research and education in personal and public financial wellbeing. Founded by Anna Lo Prete and Riccardo Calcagno, Professors at the University of Turin and the Polytechnic University of Turin, IEEF drives a range of activities aimed at fostering financial literacy and promoting impactful research.

Anna Lo Prete is Associate Professor of Economics at the University of Torino and an Associate Researcher at both the G53 Financial Literacy and Personal Finance Network and the Manheim Institute for Financial Education (MIFE). Since joining the Department of Economics and Statistics in 2016, her research has spanned economics, political economy, and public economics, with a focus on public and personal financial well-being, economic and financial education, voting behavior, and civic engagement—including participation in democratic processes and institutions. Her work has been published in peer-reviewed journals, edited volumes, public information platforms, national newspapers, books, and textbooks.

RICCARDO CALCAGNO

Initiative Co-Director

Riccardo Calcagno is Full Professor of Finance at the Polytechnic University of Turin, and an Associate Researcher at the G53 Financial Literacy and Personal Finance Network and a non-resident Scholar at the Collegio Carlo Alberto. Since joining the Department of Management and Production Engineering in 2020, his research has spanned both personal and corporate finance. In personal finance, his research has focused on the effect of financial literacy on financial decision making and on macroeconomics, and the role of financial advice. In corporate finance, he analysed the growth decision of firms and the use of market prices for providing incentives. He has published research papers in several peer-reviewed journals, such as the Review of Economic Studies, the Journal of Corporate Finance, Corporate Governance: An International Review, the Journal of Banking and Finance, and the Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization.
